There are three sermons I preached recently, though they were not recorded as were some of the teachings I have been giving on Sunday. (As we read through the Scriptures in the little OJP Fellowship chapel.) May you take to heart, and seek Jesus, about what you read here.
1) TALK TO JESUS. HE WILL TALK TO YOU.
This is basic and the foundation for everything in our relationship with God. Jesus is alive and real and near and hears us, and responds. We must listen to him and see what is on his heart as well as share what is on ours. It is the time to leave the Laodicean Church, who thinks they are rich and in need of nothing, but who do not know him personally, though they feel they do.
They believe in Jesus. They believe he is God, they believe he died for them and rose again, and they believe he will return. Yes, they don’t know him. Moses knew the Father and obeyed everything that the Father said to him to do. Adam knew him and walked with him “in the cool of the day”. Job loved him and stayed true to him, though he suffered greatly from that which came to afflict him. Yet, he conversed with God, and was God’s friend.
But Christians today are not his friends. They have their beliefs about him and the many doctrines they have embraced, but they don’t really know what is on his heart, nor what he is doing in the world in this day and hour. Everything they believe is colored by their religious beliefs, from what they have learned in the Laodicean Church, who thinks they a good relationship with him, but are mistaken.
The foundation of our fatih is Jesus himself. He is the Head of the Church, and to the Bride, he must be known. If you do not know him as Abraham did, then you are not his Bride. You only think you are, because the church has taught you so. Jesus can be known, and must be known, personally by you. Probably you have heard him before, or had dreams from him, or felt his presence in the worship service at your church. It is not enough.
What has he said to you of the War on Terror? Do you see the signs of the times? Do you see the tares gathered, just as Jesus foretold in his parables when he was on earth before his death? Talk to Jesus; He will talk to you. If you do not believe this, you are woefully behind the leading and actions of the Holy Spirit, you are out of touch with the Father. Jesus came to restore you to the Father, our Creator, so be restored then, and start talking to him and hearing from him. There is much suffering coming to the earth, and what will be your role as the Father moves to engage the enemy and to help the helpless. What will you do for your Savior? Preach more of your fallen gospel, thinking that you are doing God a favor? The Pharisees and teachers of the law in Jesus’ day stuck with their religion and their beliefs, even as the Son of God confronted them. Jesus said to them, “you travel over land and sea for a single convert, and then you make him twice as much a son of hell as you yourself.”
Naturally the Pharisees did not think this was so. They were furiously angry with Jesus for what he said, but they NEVER ONCE ASKED THE FATHER, THEIR GOD. In the same way, the Laodicean Church continues in what they believe, without Jesus saying a word to them. It is the time to leave that fallen state, and to seek him to come to know him, as Abraham knew him.
